Our SERVICES

Metric Music Therapy provides Neurologic Music Therapy services on an individual basis in the Los Angeles area.  Services are available for treatment, consultations, and presentations. Treatment services are available for all ages.

The highest quality of therapy is maintained and Metric Music Therapy follows the American Music Therapy Association's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.

All services are provided by a Board Certified Neurologic Music Therapist.

The interventions used are scientifically supported and data and progress are measured throughout sessions.  The goals address non-musical behaviors and support the transferring of these behaviors to non-musical settings.

In partnership with SensoriMotor Foundations, parent, teacher and professional trainings are offered.

NMT Training

NEUROLOGIC MUSIC THERAPY (NMT) is defined as the therapeutic application of music to cognitive, sensory, and motor dysfunctions due to neurologic differences of the human nervous system.  NMT is based on a neuroscience model of music perception and production and the influence of music on non-musical brain and behavior functions.  -(Thaut, 2005)

In order to become a Board Certified Music Therapist, completion of at least a Bachelor's degree in music therapy, completion of a 6-month clinical internship, and successful completion of the national certification exam are required to receive the MT-BC credentials.

To gain the NMT designation, a Board Certified Music Therapist must complete advanced training and education in neurosciences and clinical techniques.  Fellowship requires a peer review of each candidate's understanding of current research and practice via video review and discussion.

The training, education and research are maintained through the ACADEMY OF NEUROLOGIC MUSIC THERAPY.
